Why Bright Star?
There are a lot of reasons why I work here. The biggest reason for me is the supportive work environment. I have felt so supported by Bianca and the team, which wasn't something I was used to before. Our work environment is unique to Bright Star. It's something we've built as a team through our experiences as people with disabilities.
Our values of kindness, authenticity, and empowerment are another reason I enjoy working at Bright Star. These values really resonate with me on a personal level.
What does my work look like?
I'm a support worker, so my days can involve plenty of different things. I often support families with multiple children which involves prompting and supporting kids and parents with chores, cooking, after school routines, extracurricular activities and other outings. One of the clients I work with loves to play pretend games and hide and seek. That's a skill I've had to learn on the job (and I think I've gotten pretty good at it). My favourite things to do with my clients would have to be: art, baking, and exploring nature.
