Miah
Hi my name is Miah, and I identify with the pronouns she/her.
My story
I grew up in South Australia, surrounded by my family, which includes my Mum, Dad, my triplet sisters, and my older brother. Growing up, I immersed myself in various sports, including surf lifesaving, gymnastics, swimming, and netball, which played a significant role in shaping my interests and lifestyle.
Having recently completed Year 12, I am now spending my free time going on camping and travelling adventures with my friends. I'm also focused on personal growth and future planning. Soon I'm planning to purse a Bachelor of Nursing, which I'm really excited about.
Why Bright Star?
I started working for Bright Star this year because it has always been my dream to pursue a career where I could support people. I chose Bright Star specifically because their values align perfectly with my own beliefs. My aim is to have a positive impact in others' day-to-day lives and promote independence.

Working with Bright Star is incredibly rewarding for many reasons. I love the opportunity I have to impact others through supporting them to build their skills and confidence in themselves. Working here has been personally fulfilling and enjoyable.
What are my likes?
I love hanging out with my friends, whether it's enjoying a relaxing day at a winery, attending fun gatherings, or hitting the trails for a hike. I'm currently trying out Pilates and gym workouts for a bit of change from sports. I've found that Pilates and gym are great for self-growth and overall wellbeing.

I also like to give back by volunteering with my family at our animal rescue, which involves organising barbeques and helping out during adoption days. It's a great way to support a cause I care about while spending time with my loved ones.
What does my work look like?
As a support worker at Bright Star there are a variety of tasks I do to support my clients. Some of my usual day to day tasks include: supporting family outings, support with emotional regulation, household chores, playing and socialising, and advocating. I believe that the most important part of my job is nurturing and uplifting my clients to get them to reach their full potential.
