My story

At a young age, I became an aunty, and I have always had a natural instinct to nurture and support children as they grow into who they are. I started dancing at 13, and by the age of 17, I was assisting the studio owner with anything I could.

Over time, this developed into supporting children with disabilities, helping them feel calm, comfortable and ready to go into class or perform on stage. In 2022, I began working as a support worker, and from there, my life has just felt right.

I truly feel that this is my calling — to support and assist people in becoming the best versions of themselves.

Why Bright Star?

I’m excited to start working for Bright Star, as I have a personality that children naturally seem to be drawn to. I believe this helps me create a comfortable and safe environment where they can feel at ease, allowing me to provide them with the best possible support.

What are my likes?

I dance two nights a week and enjoy a range of styles, including Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. I also love going to music concerts and musicals. If I’m not doing any of these things, you’ll usually find me reading a good book or spending time hanging out and playing with my best friend’s children.

What does my work look like?

My work as a support worker looks different every day because I support each person based on their individual needs, goals, preferences and choices. It involves building trusting relationships, providing practical and emotional support, encouraging independence, and helping clients participate in their community and everyday activities. It can include assisting with personal care, appointments, household tasks, social activities, routines and skill development. It also means advocating for the person, maintaining their dignity, privacy and confidentiality, and creating a safe and inclusive environment. Most importantly, my work is about supporting people to have choice and control in their lives while helping them achieve their goals and live as independently and confidently as possible.
